OXBOW 7

This incredibly personal endeavor by, James Beard nominated, Chef Bryan Caswell and his business partner (and wife) Jennifer Caswell, is best described as elevated bayou cuisine. Oxbow 7 embraces refined, yet approachable cuisine founded on ingredients sourced from Houston moving East to Apalachicola.

Just as French haute cuisine elevated simple food of the common man, Oxbow 7 seeks to introduce to our guests to elevated bayou cuisine. With an emphasis on small and shared plates created with high-end ingredients and refined technique, Oxbow 7’s menu is focused on the people and cultures who established communities along the small waterways that we call Bayous.

Our menu, inspired by the region the Caswell’s call home, is born from the bayous they both explored as children. These waterways where Bryan learned how to fish, hunt and gig for frogs were the same that Jennifer and her siblings caught crawfish using twine and bologna behind their home. These days, they prefer to take their four children down the bay side bayous crabbing for Texas Blue Crabs… or as they like call them, crabbies…

These unearthed childhood memories are the origin for the menu at Oxbow 7.
